  • Description:   Each vision has its appeal, and everyone will be free to follow his or her inclinations. The haredim will certainly choose to be Jews in Judea. The hard-core secularists will opt to become Israelis in Israel. As for the so-called modern Orthodox and non-Orthodox traditionalists, they will be able to vote with their feet - Judea, Israel or, as so many seem to prefer, the Diaspora. The Sabbath is protected by the rulings of the Supreme Council, Judea's governing body. Composed of great Orthodox rabbis, it interprets the Torah, which is the sole law of Judea. Under its aegis, rabbinical courts adjudicate everything from personal status to property laws according to halakhah. The council supervises the media, insuring that it reflects Jewish values and provides wholesome, modest content. The council makes sure that only kosher food is grown or imported, and that Judea's many restaurants are all strictly kosher. It also supervises the rules for public deportment, which include head-covering for men, modest dress for women, appropriate behavior between the sexes, separate bathing at swimming pools and no expressions of disrespect toward God, Judaism and the rabbinical leadership.
