  • Description: The cobalt-assisted Claisen rearrangement of complexed silyl ketene acetals, obtained from diastereoisomeric lactones, gives an 11-membered enediyne alcohol (4). The reaction gives high yields at ambient temperature. The propargylic rearrangement of 4 produces enyne allene that may undergo Myers cycloaromatization to give a seven-membered benzannulated ring system stereoselectively. The lactone preparation involves the use of the corresponding hydroxy acids.
