Reactions of enynes with adsorbed metal-carbenes
  • Author: Katz, Thomas J ; Xu-Qiang Yang, Ginger
  • Description: Adsorbed on silica-gel or on other adsorbants (MgSO 4 , Na 2 SO 4 , or Na 2 CO 3 ), but not in homogeneous solution, pentacarbonyl(methoxyethylidene)chromium combines with simple enynes to give bicyclo[3.1.0]hexanes. The method's usefulness is illustrated by the synthesis of a variety of previously unknown structures from simple hydrocarbons, ethers, and amines. Metal-carbenes adsorbed on solids combine with enynes to give previously unknown bicyclo[3.1.0]hexanes.
